I spoke with Met Life this morning. Met Life is the new carrier for the life insurance that the CITY carries for all active and retired employees. Active members receive one time their salary plus $1500 in event of death. Retired BCFD members get $7000. This letter was sent out in case someone wanted to change their beneficiary. If you are okay with your beneficiary, you do not need to do anything.
