    It is with much sadness that The Baltimore City Retired Fire Officers and Firefighters Association announces the passing of Lt. Irwin N. Kingsbury, Formerly of the Fire Academy.

    Fire Department Service 31 Years 1 Month 7 Days

    On Retirement 40 Years 9 Months 28 Days

    Retirees Association Member 40 Years 10 Months 8 Days

    Age 95 years 27 Days

    Date of Passing September 15, 2020

    Rest in Peace Inky

    LT. Kingsbury (Inky) as he was called), was an excellent instructor when I was assigned to the Fire Academy as a probationary firefighter in 1977. He was a truck guy and it showed in his day to day training. I learned so much from him, and I thank him. My condolences to the Kingsbury family. May he rest in peace…..

    How fortunate I was to have such an experienced instructor as a rookie in 1966 at the Academy. He taught us that this was a serious, rewarding job. He sure loved being a fire fighter. Thanks Inky you taught us well.
